Jaipur: A wrestler lodged an FIR at Kotwali police station in Jaipur Sunday against a sub-inspector for allegedly assaulting him with a dumbbell and leaving him injured.The complaint was lodged by Mukesh Jat, 26, a wrestler from Sardarshahar area in Churu district who currently resides at Peeli Ka Akhada near Gangauri Gate.According to the complainant, the incident occurred around 12.30 am when he was asleep in the wrestling pit. The accused sub-inspector, currently posted in the Jaipur Rural Police Lines, allegedly arrived at the pit and asked him to heat milk for him, after which, when he refused, an argument ensued.“The officer allegedly abused and threatened the wrestler, saying that if he wanted to continue staying at the pit, he would have to carry out such tasks for him. He then allegedly grabbed him by the neck and slapped him repeatedly,” a police officer said, citing the FIR.The complainant further alleged that when he resisted, the sub-inspector picked up a dumbbell and struck him on the head, injuring him. Even after he fell to the ground, the officer allegedly continued to assault him.Other wrestlers staying at the akhada rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion and intervened. Mukesh was later taken for medical treatment and subsequently filed a complaint.Police confirmed that an FIR was registered and an investigation is underway.
