Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Monday directed the Jhunjhunu SP to appear before it on Nov 6 and apprise the court of the progress in the investigation into an FIR against Jai Prakash, son of Surajgarh Congress MLA Shrawan Kumar, over the alleged use of a fabricated court order to restore his name to the electoral roll of Jeeni gram panchayat. The direction was passed by a single-judge bench of Justice Anand Sharma while hearing a compliance report filed by State Election Commission (SEC) regarding the alleged fabrication.During the hearing, Amit Kuri, counsel for SEC, informed the court that the returning officer concerned, who is also Surajgarh SDM, had lodged an FIR at Surajgarh police station on Oct 31.The case relates to allegations that Jai Prakash submitted a forged HC order to get his name restored to the voters’ list for Ward No. 5 of Jeeni gram panchayat in Jhunjhunu district ahead of the ongoing Panchayati Raj elections.During an earlier hearing, Kuri had produced a letter dated Oct 16, issued by the electoral officer of Surajgarh panchayat samiti. The letter stated that Jai Prakash had submitted what he claimed was a HC order directing restoration of his name in the electoral roll.Kuri had argued that the purported order also indicated that Jai Prakash was entitled to file his nomination and contest the elections, and that his nomination should be accepted if it otherwise met the prescribed requirements.
