Jaipur: A 30-year-old farmer was allegedly beaten to death with sticks and iron rods by his neighbour, a retired assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and his family in Bharatpur Monday over a dispute involving a prime piece of land allegedly worth several crores. Police Tuesday registered a murder case against the retired ASI and five of his family members and launched a manhunt for the accused.The incident took place around 4pm in Tuhiya village under Udyog Nagar police station area. Police said the accused allegedly admitted the critically injured victim to RBM Hospital before fleeing. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.The deceased, identified as Sushil Kumar, lived alone after the death of his parents and earned his livelihood through farming. According to police, the accused had allegedly been pressuring him to transfer ownership of his highway-side land, valued at several crores of rupees.“A dispute over the land appears to be the primary motive behind the murder. However, we are also probing other possible angles,” said a senior officer of Udyog Nagar police station.Station house officer Rajesh Kasana said the FIR was lodged by the victim’s uncle, Nakul. According to the complaint, retired ASI Gajendra Singh, his wife Mithlesh, sons Yogesh and Jaidev, and daughters-in-law Mamta and Sangeeta allegedly took Sushil to their house, where they assaulted him with sticks and iron rods after he refused to transfer the land in their names.Police said Gajendra Singh retired from the force about four years ago. All six accused are absconding, and police teams are conducting raids to arrest them.
