Jaipur: Police Saturday exhumed the body of a 19-year-old woman from a field four days after she was allegedly killed by her live-in partner and buried in secret in the Ghatol area of Banswara district.According to SHO Praveen Singh, the case came to light on Saturday morning when Lalshankar Ninama approached the police station to report that his daughter Bipasha was missing for the past five months. During the preliminary investigation, police found that Bipasha was living with a 22-year-old man named Pradeep from Garnawat village in the Ghatol area. When police reached Pradeep’s village, locals informed them that the girl wasn’t seen for the last few days and that they suspected Pradeep might be involved in her disappearance. Pradeep was detained for questioning and broke down under interrogation. He initially told police that he had a heated argument with Bipasha on May 20, after which she allegedly hanged herself, the officer said. Fearing consequences, he allegedly buried her body in a nearby field to hide the incident. However, police were not convinced by his account. An FSL team later confirmed there were no rope marks on her neck, raising suspicions that she might have been strangled.Following the alleged confession, police, accompanied by a sub-divisional magistrate, reached the field in the morning. A portion of the land was dug up, and Bipasha’s body was recovered. It was sent to Banswara District Hospital for post-mortem. A murder case was registered against Pradeep based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father.Further investigation revealed that Pradeep and Bipasha eloped in December 2024. They initially stayed in Udaipur before moving to Pradeep’s native village Garnawat on April 23, where they lived with his family.
