Jaipur: A day after the murder of a 32-year-old pregnant woman, whose body was found buried near a road outside their rented accommodation in Bindayaka, police Monday said they had detained the main accused and were awaiting the post-mortem report and other corroborative evidence before concluding the case.Senior officers said the accused, Pravesh (22), was intercepted near Karauli while allegedly trying to flee to Uttar Pradesh. Police traced him using technical inputs and brought him in for questioning.DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said investigators are close to solving the case but are awaiting the report. The incident was reported from a rented house in Prestige Colony, where the landlord had gone to inspect the locked premises. He noticed freshly disturbed soil in the garden and, after making inquiries with neighbours, checked the area. He found a woman’s hand protruding from the ground and alerted the police.According to the preliminary investigation, Pravesh (22), who worked at a factory in Bindayaka, had rented the house around two months ago and introduced the woman as his wife. Investigators have found that he was a distant nephew of the deceased and was also in a live-in relationship with her.Police said that the probe suggests the woman had separated from her husband and was pregnant. Investigators are now examining the circumstances leading to her death and whether the killing followed a sudden altercation or was pre-planned. “The exact motive will emerge only after a proper investigation,” an officer said.
