Bhilwara: A woman and her mother-in-law died after getting electrocuted by a snapped high-tension power line near their field hut in Chittorgarh district’s Dhanora village early Wednesday, police said.Police identified the deceased as Manju Prajapat (35) and her mother-in-law, Santosh Bai (65).According to police, the incident occurred around 2 am when an 11kV power line snapped and fell onto a low-tension line, causing it to break and carry high-voltage current.As per Bhopraj Prajapat, a resident of Dhanora, he and his family, including his wife, mother, and two children, were sleeping in a hut in their field when the incident occurred.Police said Manju first came into contact with the live wire. Santosh Bai was electrocuted while attempting to rescue her. Both suffered severe burns. Family members and villagers rushed the two women to Nimbahera district hospital, where doctors declared them dead.A fire broke out in the hut following the incident and was later extinguished by villagers.Police registered a case on the complaint of Bhopraj Prajapat and launched an investigation. After postmortems were conducted by a medical board on Wednesday, the bodies were handed over to the family.
