Jaisalmer: Police and administrative officials Wednesday demolished an under-construction madrassa in Kalron Ki Dhani area under the Nachna police station limits in Jaisalmer district. The structure was located about 15 km from the international border.Officials said the unauthorised construction was identified in the border village of Bahla, following which the administration removed the structure using JCB machines. Adequate security arrangements were made during the demolition.SP Abhishek Shivhare said illegal construction activity in the border belt was being removed through joint action by the administration and police under Operation Clean, being carried out on the directions of the Union govt. He added that a detailed survey was underway to identify illegal constructions, encroachments and suspicious activities within a 50-km radius of the international border.District collector Anupama Jorwal said authorities were examining unauthorised and suspicious permanent constructions in 102 villages and hamlets located near the border. A detailed report will be submitted to the Union Home Ministry after completion of the survey.Jorwal further said the campaign was being carried out with heightened vigilance to curb illegal settlements, encroachments, smuggling and other security-related concerns in the border region. “No illegal construction or encroachment will be tolerated,” she said.Last week, the administration similarly removed an illegal encroachment on govt land in the Ramgarh-Tanot border area using bulldozers.
