Stone-pelting at police in Dhaud of Jahajpur, police used mild force

Bhilwara: Tension erupted in Dhaud village under Jahajpur police station Tuesday after villagers clashed with police and administrative officials during an encroachment removal drive for the MDR-419 road-widening project.The dispute began over the removal of a wall of a temple dharamshala that officials said fell within the road limit. Eyewitnesses said some villagers pelted stones at the police and administrative team during the argument. Police used mild force to disperse the crowd as the situation worsened.Senior police and administrative officers later reached the spot and brought the situation under control through persuasion. Tehsildar Ravi Kumar Meena, SI Devaraj and other police and administrative staff were present during the incident. Police detained two persons for questioning.Shahpura ASP Rajesh Arya said the MDR-419 widening work is underway on a 22-km stretch from Deva ka Kheda on NH-52 to NH-148D via Dhaud in the Jahajpur area. Encroachments falling within the road limit are being removed as part of the project.Arya said villagers and officials came face to face over the temple dharamshala wall, after which angry villagers pelted stones at the police. The police and administration are investigating the matter.
