Jaipur: Rajasthan Pravasi Divas (RPD) will feature a three-day celebration, welcoming 5,000 delegates from across India and abroad on Dec 10.Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is set to start sending invitations to about 80 prominent business leaders from India Inc this week. The list includes leading industrialists like Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Ajay Shriram, Ajay Piramal, L N Mittal and others, said sources in the industries department.Prior to the main event, a targeted summit will take place in Shekhawati on Dec 8 to rally diaspora support for restoring and preserving the fresco-laden havelis built by past generations. The state govt has already identified over 600 buildings in the Shekhawati region for preservation. But it needs the support of the diaspora community to turn these assets into tourism products with restoration.Recently, these properties were included in UNESCO’s tentative list, which will act as a trigger for their restoration. The gathering in Shekhawati expects about 1,000 attendees.Additionally, senior leaders representing 40 Pravasi chapters, including 14 international units, will join a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister on Dec 9.“The event is likely to take place in RIC where the chief minister will interact with the members of the diaspora. The focus will be on their interests in participating in the development of the state,” said the sources. The event will also feature sectoral engagement sessions, bringing together experts, industry representatives, policymakers and stakeholders to discuss emerging opportunities and avenues for investment and collaboration across key sectors.Govt has identified sectors like tourism, industry, mining and urban development where it wants the diaspora community to invest. However, industry representatives said investment destinations are driven by the ease-of-doing-business ecosystem and the business proposition. “Some diaspora members may take up social welfare schemes but when it comes to investment, they would like to calculate returns that they get,” they said.
