Cunning thief who stole bikes using a master key arrested, 13 vehicles recovered

Jhunjhunu: Sikar Kotwali police Thursday arrested a vehicle thief accused of using a master key to steal motorcycles across Sikar city and recovered 13 vehicles from him, including 12 motorcycles and one scooty.The accused, identified as Shakeel, son of Shamshad and a resident near Kuba Masjid in Sikar, works as a labourer. Police said he had planned to sell the stolen vehicles but failed because he did not have their documents.Kotwali Station House Officer Sunil Jangid said repeated motorcycle thefts had been reported from the city, including the court premises and other areas. Acting under the direction of Superintendent of Police Praveen Nayak Nunawat and the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Tejpal and the circle officer, a special team was formed and CCTV footage was examined.The investigation found that Shakeel allegedly used a master key to open motorcycle locks, stole the vehicles and first parked them in deserted lanes or enclosures. After a few hours or one to two days, he would shift them to other places to mislead police.Police kept watch on theft hotspots for six to seven days and caught Shakeel when he allegedly arrived to steal another vehicle. During questioning, he told police he used a master key to steal bikes. Police said he removed the front number plate immediately after the theft and covered his face with a towel to avoid identification.Shakeel has been arrested in one motorcycle theft case. Police said he will be arrested on production warrant in other pending cases and questioned further, and more vehicle theft cases are likely to be solved.
