Jhunjhunu: The Students’ Federation of India staged a protest at Sikar railway station Thursday against the Centre over the NEET paper leak case, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and action against the National Testing Agency.SFI state president Vijendra Dhaka said the organisation would launch a “Raat Jagao Desh Jagao” campaign at Kalyan Circle in Sikar on Friday night, on the lines of the protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.Dhaka said students had been protesting for the past one-and-a-half months, but the government was responding with repression instead of addressing their demands. He said anger among students had intensified after the lathicharge on those marching towards Parliament.“The protest will continue until the Union Education Minister resigns, action is taken against the NTA, and justice is given to students affected during the movement,” Dhaka said.He said SFI would burn an effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Kalyan Circle. The organisation has appealed to coaching institutes to remain closed for a day in support of students and urged student groups, social organisations and political parties to join the movement.The all-night sit-in at Kalyan Circle will seek to press the Centre to act on students’ demands, Dhaka said.Student Sandhya, who participated in the protest at Jantar Mantar, condemned the police action during the Parliament march and said several students were injured. She accused the government of trying to suppress students’ voices.She also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi left without answering students’ questions in Parliament and said he must be accountable on major national issues. Sandhya reiterated the demand for Pradhan’s resignation and action against those responsible.
