Sewer line work at B2 Bypass well past deadline, all-round mess for weeks now

Jaipur: The replacement of a damaged sewer line at B2 Bypass was supposed to be completed by end of May, but over six weeks later, it continues at a snail’s pace, often coming to a standstill. It is also causing daily traffic jams, and flooding the nearby Woodland Park with sewage water.Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater launched the project in the first week of May, claiming it would be completed within a month. The delay is now affecting the Woodland Park on New Sanganer Road, where overflowing sewage water has created a major hygiene issue. A large portion of the park was waterlogged for the past three days, leaving morning walkers struggling to find a clean path.Officials say the problem began when the drainage chamber was being constructed near Shipra Path. During the process, a sewer line passing through Jhulelal Market was opened, diverting untreated sewage directly into the park.Compounding the issue, security guards posted at the park reportedly failed to inform senior officials in time, allowing the situation to worsen. This same sewer line ruptured four times in the past five years, yet no permanent solution has been implemented. The current state of disrepair and administrative delay underscores a broader lack of accountability in the city’s civic planning and execution.
