Jaipur: A heist on national highway-8 when almonds worth Rs 60 lakh were looted after drugging the truck driver came to nothing as Bagru police arrested five persons and recovered the stolen almonds, police officers said Sunday.DCP (west) Amit Kumar said Tansher Singh, a partner in a logistics company, had filed a complaint at Bagru police station on June 7 stating that a truck carrying 900 sacks of almonds had gone missing. The consignment, booked by an export firm, was worth Rs 1 crore. The truck, which departed on June 4, was being tracked via two GPS devices. However, both signals were lost near Nevta Road Bridge in Sanganer on the morning of June 7. The driver, Anis, went incommunicado, and later, the truck was found abandoned near Bagru toll plaza with the driver unconscious and over 300 almond sacks missing.Three of the accused—Babulal Chaudhary, Shakir Qureshi, and Sahil Mansuri—were identified as the masterminds behind the robbery. They sold the stolen almonds to Rajkumar Saini and Bhupendra Kumar, both residents of Kalwad. Police raided a house in Kuchera, Nagaur—belonging to Saini’s in-laws—and recovered 312 sacks of the stolen almonds along with the getaway vehicle, an Innova car.
