Jaipur: The city police Saturday said the custodial interrogation of Ravi Prakash alias Balaram, 28, who was arrested a day earlier, could hold the ‘final puzzle’ in piecing together the conspiracy behind the murder of his aunt, 45-year-old Neeraj Sharma.Ravi is suspected of orchestrating the murder of his aunt, Neeraj, allegedly conspiring with her daughter and his own cousin Ayushi. Investigators said the motive behind the cold-blooded act may have stemmed from a disturbing pact: Ayushi was to secure a compassionate govt job following her mother’s demise, while Ravi aimed to inherit the family’s ancestral property located in Bharatpur.Significantly, police claimed that Ayushi moved out of her mother’s home and took residence with Ravi just months prior to the killing, raising questions about the dynamics within the family leading up to the chilling murder.
The circumstances surrounding the arrangement are under scrutiny as police attempt to establish a clearer picture of its implications for the conspiracy.Neeraj was initially reported to have been run over by a Scorpio SUV in Pratap Nagar on July 3, a case that was initially treated as a hit-and-run accident. However, subsequent investigations triggered by suspicions among family members led police to transform their inquiry into a homicide probe. Following a series of interrogations, Ayushi and six others, including alleged contract killers, were arrested on July 7. Ravi, who was evading police, was arrested after a tip-off regarding his return to Jaipur.The investigation has also brought to light the previous death of Neeraj’s husband, Vijay Sharma, with family members raising concerns after the alleged criminal conspiracy between Ayushi and Ravi surfaced. They allege Neeraj kept relatives uninformed about Vijay’s health and medical treatment. Police are currently looking into these claims, though no evidence has yet been found linking Vijay’s death to Neeraj’s murder.
