Jaisalmer: A controversy erupted after a letter written by Pokhran sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Hirsingh Charan to Jaisalmer collector Anupama Jorwal, alleging attempts by representatives of certain private solar companies to influence administrative and revenue proceedings, went viral on social media, Monday.In the letter, Charan alleged that company representatives repeatedly tried to influence proceedings related to land disputes and administrative matters. “Pressure was exerted to obtain favourable orders, and threats of transfer and administrative action were conveyed when decisions did not align with company interests,” he wrote.The SDM said such interference was affecting administrative functioning and raising concerns about fair and transparent governance. He stressed that the interests of farmers involved in land disputes must be protected and that all decisions should be taken strictly within the framework of law.Charan also sought intervention from the district collector and requested that pending cases involving such companies be transferred to other courts.Confirming the communication, Tuesday, Charan said dissatisfaction with court decisions could not become grounds for influencing judicial or quasi-judicial proceedings. “Cultivators generally approach the administration after facing disputes or injustice. It is our responsibility to hear them impartially and ensure justice,” he said.He added that the request for transfer of cases was made solely to maintain transparency and neutrality in the proceedings.Meanwhile, villagers opposed any move to shift pending matters from Pokhran to Jaisalmer or elsewhere. Advocate Chandan Singh, representing residents, alleged attempts to influence proceedings through pressure and intimidation. He said shifting hearings nearly 100 km away would impose financial and logistical hardships on farmers from remote villages.Farmers from Guddi, Jaimla, Jaswantpura, Pratapgarh and Dalpatpura submitted a memorandum to the SDM demanding that khatedari-related cases continue to be heard in Pokhran. They said disputes related to land rights, possession, demarcation, roads and mutation of entries were pending before the subdivision court.No official response had been issued by the companies concerned till the filing of the report.
