Jaipur: Parking shortages, traffic congestion and concerns over weakened trees have prompted traders and residents in Walled City to seek urgent civic action ahead of the festive rush.
Walled City traders flag parking woes, weak trees ahead of festive rush
Traders said the growing number of shoppers, coupled with inadequate parking facilities, was worsening congestion in busy markets. They urged authorities to ensure better utilisation of Ramniwas Bagh parking to reduce the number of vehicles entering the Walled City. They have also demanded that Ramleela Maidan be temporarily opened for parking during the festive season. Traders believe an additional facility would ease pressure on roads and make it easier for customers to reach markets without getting caught in traffic jams.Meanwhile, residents have raised concerns over the lack of tree pruning in the area. Several trees are reportedly in a weakened condition, with some having compromised roots, raising fears of trees or branches falling during periods of heavy pedestrian movement. The narrow streets and crowded market areas make the situation particularly concerning, as any such incident could put shoppers and pedestrians at risk.Traders and residents have urged Jaipur Municipal Corporation to improve parking arrangements, inspect vulnerable trees and undertake necessary pruning and safety measures before footfall peaks. They said timely intervention would help prevent accidents, ease congestion and make market visits safer and more convenient during the festive season.
