Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court Monday granted bail to Kamlesh Jayantbhai Rathod, an accountant member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the alleged ITAT bribery case. Rathod has been lodged in Jaipur Central Jail since his arrest on Nov 26, 2025. The bail was granted on a second application filed by Rathod.Rathod’s counsel Ankit Sethi argued that the allegations against him were unsubstantiated and that the investigation involved a large volume of digital evidence, which would take considerable time to analyse. “We also cited some family circumstances, including the serious illness of his mother,” Sethi added.CBI opposed the plea, contending that Rathod was a key accused and releasing him on bail could adversely affect the investigation. His first bail application was rejected by the high court in Jan this year. The case relates to a CBI probe into an alleged bribery racket aimed at influencing decisions in matters pending before the Jaipur bench of the ITAT.The agency arrested six persons, including Rathod, in Nov 2025. The investigation is still underway, and the CBI is examining the role of other accused named in the chargesheet.
