Jaipur: A 30-year-old man died late Tuesday night, hours after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of men in Jaipur’s Amer area over suspicions of his involvement in burglaries. Police have formed special teams to identify and arrest those involved.DCP (north) Karan Sharma identified the deceased as Wasim Khan, a resident of Kajiwada Mohalla. According to police, preliminary investigation suggests that residents confronted Khan, accusing him of committing burglaries while under the influence of intoxicants. The argument allegedly escalated into an assault.Police said Khan was first taken to a nearby private clinic by some of the accused and later referred to SMS Hospital. Doctors discharged him after finding no visible serious injuries. However, his condition deteriorated after he returned home, prompting his family to take him back to SMS Hospital, where he died during treatment.Khan’s family alleged that the accused first assaulted him outside his house before dragging him to a nearby field and continuing the assault. They further claimed he was later taken to a farmhouse, where he was beaten again.The family also alleged that the same group had assaulted Khan’s son and two to three other residents a few days earlier, but no action was taken despite complaints.Police have registered a case and constituted special teams to examine CCTV footage and other video recordings from the area to identify the accused. Officials said the exact cause of death will be established after the postmortem report, and further investigation is underway.
