Jaipur: A drinking session among three friends in a Jaipur hotel ended in murder after a fight broke out over who would pay for the food and liquor, police said Monday after arresting two accused.The body of Dinesh alias Danshi Banjara, 21, was found inside a room at Shri Hotel in Bindayaka on July 25. Two friends who had checked in with him were missing from the scene.Police identified the accused as Sanjay Kumar Kasotiya, 19, and Nitesh Gawariya, 21.Jaipur West DCP Prashant Kiran said Dinesh had approached Nitesh for financial help. “Nitesh introduced him to Sanjay, who claimed to arrange loans. The trio checked into the hotel on July 24 and began drinking. As the party progressed, an argument erupted over who would foot the bill for the booze and food. The quarrel quickly turned violent.”Police said Sanjay and Nitesh overpowered Dinesh and allegedly strangled him with a dupatta lying on the bed. They then left his body in the room and slipped away.Investigators said the two tried to cover their tracks.“The accused switched their mobile phones to flight mode, travelled to Jaipur railway station, removed and destroyed the SIM card from the victim’s phone and moved between cities by train and bus to avoid electronic surveillance,” an officer said.Police cracked the case after scanning footage from more than 300 CCTV cameras, which led them to Dausa.While hiding in a Dausa hotel, police said, the accused connected to Wi-Fi and watched more than 50 YouTube videos on how to evade police after a murder.“They searched topics such as how murder investigations are conducted, how long it takes for a body to decompose, possible punishment for murder and ways to escape arrest,” an officer said.Police said the accused later travelled to Khatu Shyamji Temple in Sikar, allegedly to seek divine forgiveness, before returning to Dausa.They were planning to flee to Gujarat when they were arrested, police said.
