Jaipur: The 16-year-old boy from Mehandipur Balaji in Dausa, who went missing on Sunday after a threatening note was found near his bicycle, was located in Barmer, nearly 600 km from his home, and reunited with his family Tuesday. Police said the boy had staged his own disappearance after being scolded by his father for scoring 65% in his Class 10 board exams—well below the 80% he promised.Identified as Shivam, the boy went to deliver lunch to his father, Balram, at his shop around 12:30pm. He left on his bicycle about half an hour later for home, which is just a kilometre away. When he didn’t arrive within 20 minutes, his family began searching for him. Around 1:30pm, his bicycle was found abandoned near a school, just 300 metres from the shop. A small handwritten note, scribbled in red marker and left beside the cycle, read: “Your son is dead. The body will be found at 7.30.”Worried that their son was kidnapped, the family immediately filed a report at Mehandipur Balaji police station. SHO Gaurav Pradhan said CCTV footage from nearby shops showed Shivam walking alone and getting into a jeep at the local taxi stand. He was later seen at Bandikui railway station eating ice cream before boarding the Shalimar Express to Barmer. The boy was spotted a day later in Dudhwa area near Balotra in Barmer by a local shepherd, who noticed him wandering alone and informed police. A police team, along with Shivam’s uncle, reached the location and brought him back to Dausa. He was presented before the child welfare committee and handed over to his family Tuesday. Police said Shivam wrote the threatening note himself. His school notebook was used for handwriting verification. Officers believe he was deeply disappointed by his academic performance and feared facing his father’s reaction.
