Ajmer: A civil court in Ajmer Thursday expressed concern over the failure of several govt departments to respond to notices in a petition challenging the desilting of Ana Sagar and Varuna Sagar lakes and the pumping of water from Ana Sagar, which allegedly led to the death of hundreds of fish.Civil Judge (North City) observed that despite service of notices, the fisheries department, principal secretary of the environment department, and the State Wetland Authority neither appeared before the court nor filed their replies. The petition was filed by Ajmer city Congress president Dr Rajkumar Jaipal through advocate Vivek Parashar. According to the petitioner, the plea challenged the pumping of water from Ana Sagar Lake and alleged that the desilting work was carried out illegally. The court also noted that while the district collector, Ajmer Municipal Corporation and some other departments were represented through their advocates, they sought additional time to file their replies.Taking note of the delay, the court fixed July 21 as the next date of hearing.
