Kota: A 28-year-old woman from Baran district is battling for her life at New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) in Kota after developing severe postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) following a normal delivery at Jhalawar’s SRG Hospital Tuesday. The woman, identified as Pushpa, was admitted to SRG Hospital with labour pain and delivered normally. However, she developed excessive bleeding shortly after childbirth. Despite efforts by doctors to control the haemorrhage, including transfusion of five to six units of blood and platelets, her condition did not stabilise, prompting doctors to refer her to Kota the same day.“Her condition suddenly deteriorated, most probably due to PPH, a serious complication after delivery. As the excessive bleeding could not be controlled here, she was referred to NMCH in Kota,” Baran Medical College principal Sanjay Porwal said Saturday. At Kota hospital, she developed shock and severe breathing difficulties following massive blood loss and prolonged low blood pressure. Doctors shifted her to the intensive care unit (ICU), where she was placed on ventilator support. The blood loss also led to symptoms of acute kidney injury. A nephrology team subsequently performed emergency dialysis to manage the kidney complications. She continued to remain critical under intensive medical supervision and ventilator support as doctors worked to stabilise her condition.Meanwhile, NMCH principal Nilesh Jain did not provide an update on her condition on Saturday and referred queries to SSB superintendent Ashutosh Sharma and nephrology head Vikas Khandelia. Both did not respond to calls.
