Jaipur: A day after a couple working as domestic help allegedly drugged the family members of Congressman Sandeep Chaudhary and fled with jewellery and cash from his Vaishali Nagar home, police teams were dispatched to multiple cities in pursuit of the accused.The domestic servant couple—identified as Bharat and Kajal, both Nepalese nationals—remain on the run along with two unidentified accomplices. According to investigators, the duo administered sedatives to Chaudhary’s mother and wife before orchestrating the robbery with the help of others.Police sources said Bharat and Kajal were hired just 15 days earlier through a placement agent from Darjeeling. They allegedly used fake identification documents, including an Aadhaar card issued from Gujarat. The suspects switched off their mobile phones minutes after fleeing the house. The getaway vehicle is believed to have been a cab. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from toll booths and transport hubs across Jaipur and neighbouring districts to track their route.A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team collected samples of tea, vomit, and a syringe-like object from the kitchen. Initial assessments suggest the sedatives may have been mixed into the tea, though the possibility of an injectable substance is also being considered.“The exact nature of the substance will be confirmed once lab reports are available. But all evidence points to a premeditated plan to incapacitate the victims before executing the theft,” said an FSL official.The house was found ransacked, and valuables worth several lakhs—including cash and jewellery—were reported missing. Police are currently questioning a few suspects connected to the placement agency and others possibly linked to the escape.
