Jaipur: A group of animal activists in Jaipur are protesting the tender process for the animal birth control (ABC) programme of Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Heritage. They allege that the civic body deliberately changed the norm to appoint a new agency from Haryana, which has already been blacklisted by the state govt.“The JMC Heritage is working on the process of appointing an agency from Rewari in Haryana. There were several complaints against this firm, and the erstwhile unified JMC earlier blacklisted this company,” said Mariam Abuhaideri, an animal activist.A group of five animal activists from Jaipur forwarded a deputation to JMC Heritage Commissioner Nidhi Patel, requesting her to revoke the entire tender process, mentioning all the complaints filed against this agency in the past. When TOI contacted JMC Heritage Commissioner Nidhi Patel, she questioned how these activists came to know the name of the agency before the tender was awarded. “A committee headed by a senior RAS official is looking after this appointment process. We are leaving no stone unturned to appoint the most eligible agency for this purpose, especially when this issue is under the Supreme Court’s glare,” she said. Activists further alleged that JMC Heritage deliberately changed a norm in the tender process to help this firm get the tender. In fact, because of this new norm, no agencies from Rajasthan could participate in the tender process.Vet Sunil Chawla, who oversees the ABC programme in areas under the jurisdiction of JMC Greater, stated that the new norm allows agencies possessing a Project Recognition Certificate (PRC) from ULBs of at least two cities to apply for the tender.
