Police busts MD drug factory in Barmer, Rs 2.02 crore haul seized

Jaisalmer: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Sedwa police in Barmer district busted an illegal MD (mephedrone) manufacturing unit operating about 50 km from the India-Pakistan international border, seizing narcotics, precursor chemicals, cash and manufacturing equipment collectively valued at around Rs 2.02 crore.Police said the synthetic drug was being manufactured inside a house in Gauda village under Sedwa police station limits. During the raid, officers seized 1.003 kg of ready MD, 77.176 litres of liquid chemicals, 26.67 kg of white powder, Rs 24.09 lakh in cash, an electronic weighing scale and machinery used to manufacture the narcotic.SP Chunaram Jat said Sedwa police received specific intelligence that the main accused, Mukesh Vishnoi, had set up an illegal MD manufacturing unit in a tin shed behind his house, about 500 metres from Gauda village. Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Chohtan circle officer Jetharam and Sedwa SHO Prabhuram conducted a raid under the SP’s supervision.Police arrested Mukesh’s wife, Anju, from the premises, while the main accused fled before the raid. A manhunt has been launched to trace him, and police are interrogating the arrested woman.An FIR has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify the source of the precursor chemicals and the distribution network for the manufactured drugs.
