Jaipur: Phase II of Jaipur Metro is set to move forward, with the Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation Ltd preparing to issue the work order for the project soon, according to a release issued Wednesday.“Following the Union Cabinet’s approval of Phase 2, RMRCL will issue the work order for the first package of the project, covering the 12-kilometre corridor from Prahladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala, at the earliest. Rapid progress is being made toward issuing tenders for the remaining packages of the project in the coming days,” the release stated.The project will be implemented under the Metro Rail Policy 2017, under which the central govt will provide 50% equity support. This funding structure is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on the Rajasthan govt.“Consequently, this will reduce the financial burden on the state govt. The project has been targeted for completion by 2031. RMRCL, with a 50:50 partnership between the centre and the state, will construct the corridor,” an official stated.
