Tourist dies of suspected heart attack at Jaisalmer resort

Jaisalmer: A 37-year-old tourist from Indore died of a suspected heart attack late Sunday night at a resort in Sam sand dunes, Jaisalmer. The man, identified as Rahul Malvi (37), a resident of the airport area in Indore, arrived at Sam with his companions Sunday night. According to eyewitnesses the group went to watch a cultural programme at the resort soon after checking in. During the programme, Rahul collapsed and fell unconscious. His companions took him to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer, where doctors declared him dead.Resort operator Prem said a group of six friends from Indore reached the resort while the cultural programme was under way. He said that after checking in and keeping their luggage, they went directly to watch the programme, when Rahul suddenly fell on the ground. Rahul’s friend Rajesh said the group visited Khatu Shyamji Sunday and then travelled from Jaisalmer to Sam. He said Rahul felt dizzy while watching the programme and collapsed. Rajesh said he administered CPR before they took him to Jawahar Hospital, adding that it appeared to be a silent attack. Dr Bhagwan Singh Rajpurohit at the hospital said Rahul was already dead when he was brought to Jawahar Hospital late Sunday night. He said an ECG was conducted and the police were informed, after which the body was kept in the mortuary for a post-mortem. The doctor said the cause of death appeared to be an attack, but a post-mortem would be conducted from the hospital’s side. Sam police station in-charge Prahlad said the deceased’s family members arrived Monday evening and refused to get a post-mortem done.
