Bhilwara: A 19-year-old youth was arrested in Bhilwara for allegedly selling fake Re-NEET examination papers through a Telegram group created using a proxy VPN, police said Friday.Acting on a tip-off received through the i-MAC portal, Bhilwara police raided a house in Patel Nagar late Thursday night and detained the accused, identified as Aakash Chaudhary. He was arrested after questioning and produced before a court Friday, which remanded him in police custody until June 22.Bhilwara Sadar Dy SP Nemichand Chaudhary said the action was taken following instructions from SP Sagar Rana to maintain strict vigilance ahead of the NEET retest scheduled on June 21.Police said Aakash, a native of Rawatsar in Churu district, is currently preparing for airport-related examinations in Jaipur. He allegedly created a Telegram group through a proxy VPN and circulated fake Re-NEET papers to users online. At the time of the raid, he was allegedly forwarding the papers through Telegram and other social media platforms.According to police, the group had 54 members and four to five people allegedly purchased the fake papers for Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 each. Investigators said around Rs 18,000 was credited to the accused’s account through the transactions.Police have launched a search for those who purchased the papers and are investigating whether others were involved in the operation. Officials said the role of the accused’s minor brother is also under scrutiny and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
