Udaipur: A 30-year-old woman along with her daughter and nephew, both 9 years of age, died by drowning in the backwaters of Mahi Dam in Banswara Monday. The incident took place in Bhungra police station area. SHO Rameshchandra said Marjeena, her daughter Afsana, and nephew Alfez drowned in the water and that there were two other children with them who did not enter the water.According to family members, Alfez was the first to enter the water. Seeing him, Afsana also followed. As they moved a little further, both children began to drown. Seeing them drowning, Marjeena jumped in. As all three started drowning, the other two children who accompanied them shouted for help. Nearby villagers rushed to the scene and attempted a rescue but could not save them. The villagers recovered the bodies and handed them over to police and civil defence teams that arrived at the scene.
