Jaipur: After a brief respite, large parts of Rajasthan reeled under intense heat Saturday, with several districts in western Rajasthan recording temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius. Barmer remained the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 45.7°C, according to the Met office.The Met office said heatwave conditions were likely to intensify further as no western disturbances were expected in the coming days.Attributing the rise in mercury levels to active upper-air cyclonic circulation and the absence of western disturbances, the Met office said that although cloudy conditions may prevail in some parts of the state, temperatures were likely to rise further in the coming days. From Monday onwards, several places in western Rajasthan are expected to record maximum temperatures above 45°C.Barmer was followed by Jaisalmer at 45.0°C, Phalodi 44.8°C, Jodhpur 43.9°C, Chittorgarh 43.8°C, Bikaner 42.2°C, Jalore 41.1°C, Udaipur and Sri Ganganagar 41.0°C each, Bhilwara 40.9°C, Pali 40.8°C, Kota 40.4°C and Ajmer 40.2°C.People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warmer morning with the minimum temperature settling at 25.5°C. The city later witnessed a cloudy yet scorching afternoon, with the maximum temperature reaching 39.0°C. In the coming days, Jaipur is likely to record maximum temperatures at or above 40°C.In its forecast, the Met office said Jaipur was likely to witness clear skies over the next 24 hours, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 40°C and the minimum around 26°C. No significant rainfall activity is likely in the coming days and heat wave conditions are expected to aggravate further.
