Jaipur: Pre-monsoon activity is expected to intensify across parts of Rajasthan from June 16, bringing thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and scattered rainfall that could provide relief from the prevailing hot and humid conditions, according to the Jaipur Met office.Weather activity has already increased across the state over the past two days, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms reported from several districts in eastern Rajasthan and isolated showers in western regions.“Monsoon has already advanced into Chhattisgarh and current atmospheric conditions indicate that rising humidity levels will trigger stronger pre-monsoon activity in Rajasthan from June 16,” a Met office official said.An active western disturbance Sunday, coupled with moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea, continued to influence weather conditions across the state. Rain and dust storms were reported from several districts, including Ajmer, Kota, Tonk, Dausa and Chittorgarh.Strong evening winds uprooted trees in some areas, while cloudy skies and showers brought significant relief from the recent spell of intense heat.Jaipur remained under cloudy skies throughout the day and witnessed gusty winds in the evening, causing inconvenience to commuters. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8°C and a minimum of 27°C. Scattered rainfall, particularly in western parts of the city, and winds of 40-50 kmph helped ease temperatures.Rain and thunderstorm activity was reported from several districts. In Ajmer, showers accompanied by strong winds began around 5 pm after a day of overcast conditions. Dausa witnessed nearly 20 minutes of rain and gusty winds, while a peepal tree fell within the Manpur Hospital premises, though no injuries were reported.In Chittorgarh, heavy rain and strong winds followed dark clouds during the afternoon, briefly disrupting traffic movement.Meanwhile, Phalodi remained the hottest place in the state at 42.8°C, followed by Pilani and Jaisalmer at 41.2°C each, Barmer at 41.1°C, Churu at 40.9°C, Sri Ganganagar at 40.6°C and Lunkaransar at 40°C. Most other major stations recorded maximum temperatures below 40°C.
