Jaipur/Bhilwara: The political landscape has taken a dramatic turn following the Rawatbhata municipal council elections in Chittorgarh district, with both major parties, BJP and Congress, scrambling to secure a majority ahead of the election results, set to be announced Monday.A video surfaced Saturday featuring several BJP councillor candidates relaxing in a swimming pool, purportedly to alleviate election stress. The revelation raises questions about the party’s strategy, especially considering that following the voting process on Sept 9, BJP allegedly transported 39 councillor candidates and one independent nominee away from Rawatbhata by bus.Sources indicate that these candidates have been sequestered at a resort along Chittorgarh Road, suggesting a calculated effort by BJP to maintain control and bolster party unity amid the impending results. In retaliation, Congress has allegedly dispatched over a dozen of its own councillor candidates towards Kota, indicating that both parties are now heavily invested in securing their supporters and minimising defections.With 40 wards at stake in the Rawatbhata municipal council elections, the race to form a governing board is intensifying. Both BJP and Congress are anticipating the results, and their respective manoeuvres hint at a deeper rivalry as they vie for authority in the newly elected civic body.
