Jaipur: Jailed former Behror MLA Baljeet Yadav has disputed the FIR registered after a mobile phone was allegedly recovered from him at Jaipur Central Jail Wednesday, claiming that the phone was found unattended elsewhere in the jail.He has also threatened to launch a hunger strike if action is taken against him.He made allegations during a meeting with his aide Sandeep Yadav Friday. He claimed the phone was found in a public toilet behind a barrack and was not recovered from him.Yadav alleged that the case was registered against him under political pressure or as part of an attempt to tarnish his image.Sandeep has written to DGP and DG (Prisons), seeking an impartial investigation and verification of CCTV recordings from inside the jail.According to the letter, Yadav said that when the recovery mentioned in the FIR allegedly took place, he was having his blood pressure and sugar checked and was unaware of the incident. He said he learnt about it later from inmates and jail officials.The FIR was registered at Lalkothi police station on a complaint from the jail authorities. According to the FIR, jail guards found a keypad mobile phone hidden inside a blanket during a search.Police said they were probing the allegations and that it would be premature to comment on Yadav’s claims.Yadav is in judicial custody in a case involving alleged embezzlement of more than Rs 3 crore from MLA Local Area Development Fund. The case relates to the alleged buy of badminton and cricket kits for 32 govt schools in his Behror constituency at prices several times higher than market rates.ACB registered a corruption case against Yadav in Dec 2024. Enforcement Directorate arrested him on Feb 3, 2026, after filing a prosecution complaint. A special court in Jaipur sent him to judicial custody on Feb 7 after completion of his remand.
