Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested a wanted accused, allegedly involved in arranging fake BPEd degrees used by candidates to secure appointments through the Physical Education Teacher Recruitment Examination-2022.ADGP (SOG) Vishal Bansal identified the accused as Pankaj Kumar Jain and said the arrest was made in connection with an ongoing investigation into a fake degree racket linked to JS University in Shikohabad, Uttar Pradesh.Officials said Jain had been absconding and was arrested in Jaipur Tuesday. A resident of Nainwa in Bundi district, he was living in Sanjay Nagar on Dhabas Road in Jaipur. He has been remanded in police custody.According to investigators, forged BPEd degrees and marksheets were used by candidates to obtain govt jobs through the recruitment process conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board.The case was registered by the SOG on Nov 27, 2024, for charges related to cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.Investigators alleged that the accused, along with associate Pawan Singh Chauhan alias P S Chauhan, entered into a deal worth Rs 1.3 lakh with candidate Rajesh Kumar Fagna for arranging a fake BPEd qualification.The probe found that university records were allegedly manipulated to show Fagna’s admission to the 2017-19 BPEd session. Forged marksheets for all four semesters were subsequently prepared and issued, investigators said.According to SOG, Fagna later used the forged documents to secure appointment as a physical education teacher.The investigation later uncovered what officials described as large-scale irregularities in the preparation and issuance of fake educational documents.Earlier, the SOG had arrested three accused in the case, including the chancellor and registrar of JS University.
