Jaipur: BJP has effected a major organisational change in Rajasthan, appointing Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana Sanjay Bhatia as the party’s new state in-charge in place of UP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal.The party announced the appointments Wednesday, a day ahead of BJP national president Nitin Nabin’s visit to Rajasthan. A senior BJP member said the changes were part of a wider organisational reshuffle across states and Union Territories.The party has also appointed Kavita Patidar and Kuljeet Chahal as co-in-charges for Rajasthan. The appointments take effect immediately.The organisational changes come shortly after the completion of Rajasthan’s urban local body elections and amid preparations for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections.With the announcement of the panchayat election schedule expected soon, the new Rajasthan team will be responsible for coordinating the party’s organisational preparations at the grassroots level.BJP has also appointed Rajasthan Rajya Sabha MP Satish Poonia as in charge of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, while relieving him of the responsibility of Haryana. Smriti Irani has been appointed Haryana in charge, instead.BJP national president Nitin Nabin is expected to reach Jaipur late Thursday night and attend several programmes the next day to mark the birth anniversary of BJP ideologue Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.“Nabin begins his Jaipur visit with a cleanliness drive at Albert Hall. He will participate in the campaign before proceeding to Dadiya village, where BJP will organise a conference of elected representatives from urban local bodies,” said a party functionary.
