Jaipur: Traffic on Sahakar Marg has eased after JDA built slip lanes at Imli Phatak, but bottlenecks at Vidhan Sabha Road Tiraha and Police Headquarters Road Tiraha continue to slow commuters during peak hours.The new lanes accommodate vehicles when the railway gate is shut, preventing spillover on Sahakar Marg. However, awkward U-turns, signal timings and roadside encroachments continue to cause congestion near the two junctions.“During peak hours, both crossings get clogged because many vehicles continue straight even when they eventually need to take a U-turn,” said Rajyavardhan Jain, a commuter.He said vehicles moving straight are often forced to stop after the signal turns green to allow U-turning traffic to pass, reducing the number of vehicles clearing the junction in each cycle.Rahul Mathur, who works at a restaurant in Bais Godam, said signal timings needed to be reviewed. “Traffic police should increase the green-signal duration for vehicles moving straight on Sahakar Marg. That will ease the pile-up during rush hours,” he said.Commuters also flagged encroachments near the slip-lane approaches. Software engineer Ayub Khan said kiosks and shops were narrowing the carriageway. “Authorities must act against encroachments such as the Saras booth and other shops near the slip lanes and Sahakar Marg. These structures are choking the approach,” he said.JDA and traffic police officials have monitored the stretch for 12 days and are expected to introduce corrective measures this week.“These are teething problems and we will sort them out. When the Imli Phatak gates remain closed, vehicles now fit inside the slip lanes, preventing spillover on Sahakar Marg,” said a JDA official.
