Jaipur: A fire broke out at a Mercedes workshop in Sitapura late Tuesday night, gutting eight cars and accessories worth lakhs of rupees.The fire was reported around 11.30pm after smoke and flames were seen coming from the showroom. By the time firefighters reached the spot, the blaze had spread rapidly, sending thick black smoke several kilometres into the sky. Videos of the smoke were also shared by local residents.Around six fire tenders from a nearby fire station were rushed to the spot and firefighters began efforts to contain the blaze. They continuously sprayed water to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby areas.The flames were brought under control around 1.30am after nearly two hours of firefighting, according to officials.A preliminary assessment suggests that a short circuit may have triggered the fire. The exact cause and extent of the damage are being assessed.
