Jaipur: In a bid to improve passenger experience and ensure timely maintenance of buses, the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has launched the ‘Meri Bus Meri Zimmedaari‘ (My Bus, My Responsibility) campaign across all its depots. As part of the initiative, depot managers have been directed to focus on comprehensive upkeep of buses — including mechanical, body, electrical, and safety aspects. “All corporation vehicles available in the depot should be equally allocated among all the mechanics working in the depot, and an in-charge must be appointed. One person can be made in-charge for three vehicles,” said RSRTC managing director Purusottam Sharma in an official order. The campaign mandates that once vehicle in-charges are assigned, depots must also appoint vehicle supervisors to oversee them. For passenger convenience, contact details of the driver, vehicle in-charge, and supervisor will be displayed on each bus.“The chief manager will ensure that the appointment of vehicle in-charges and supervisors is done by May 20. In case of any deficiency found in the vehicle during inspection, disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned,” Sharma said, adding, “The manager (operations) will be in-charge of all the vehicles at the depot level and will monitor the maintenance works.”The corporation has set a target to complete maintenance work on 50% of its fleet by June 15. The list of required checks includes proper cleaning, verification of the vehicle tracking system, functionality of fire extinguishers, availability and validity of first-aid kits. “The chief manager will supervise the maintenance and upkeep work by holding weekly meetings for monitoring and ensure that the work is completed on time,” Sharma added.
