Jaipur: The pairs of Akshat Shekhawat-Devansh Tomar and Vinay Pratap-Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat sailed into the U-17 boys doubles final in the RD Baheti Memorial Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship at the SMS Stadium Indoor Badminton Hall here on Friday.In the semi-finals, Akshat and Devansh downed Poonia brothers — Tapeshwar and Tejeshwar — 15-13, 15-13 to advance to the final. In the second semis, Vinay and Yuvraj edged past Bhavesh and Darsheel 15-12, 17-15.Aaradhya Dhingra and Padmaja Singh defeated Ada Verma and Mansi 15-12, 15-9 to reach the U-17 girls doubles final. They will face Advika Agarwal and Advita Sharma, who ousted Ojaswita Dubey and Pearl Parikh 15-7, 14-16, 15-12 in a closely fought match.In the U-15 girls doubles too, the duo of Aaradhya and Padmaja entered the finals by beating the pair of Kavish and Khushi.In addition, two rounds of U-19 boys singles, one round of U-19 girls singles, and one round each of U-13 boys and girls singles were also played. The remaining matches of the competition continued late into the night.Exciting matches across different age groups were played on Friday at the RD Baheti Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship. The competition included singles for Under-19 boys and girls, singles and doubles for Under-13 boys and girls, doubles and mixed doubles for Under-15 boys and girls, and doubles for Under-17 boys and girls.The Jaipur District Badminton Association secretary Manoj Dasot said that today’s chief guest, retired Additional Superintendent of Police and Municipal Corporation officer Pushpendra Singh Rathore, greeted the players. Maharana Pratap Awardee badminton coach Yadavendra Singh Shekhawat was also present on the occasion.
