RajHealth portal exposes docs absent for over 20 years
The new system helped identify nearly 678 doctors who were missing from duty

Jaipur: The newly developed RajHealth portal is emerging as a powerful monitoring tool for tracking doctors and hospital facilities across the state.Through this digital platform, the health department has uncovered cases of doctors who had remained absent from duty for 20 years or even longer. Through the portal, each doctor is now under the radar of the health department. In one of its most striking outcomes so far, the system helped identify nearly 678 doctors who were missing from duty, with some absent for 20 years or more. For years, such cases remained buried in a paper-based administrative system where service records were scattered across district offices, hospitals and physical files.A doctor could stop reporting at a rural health centre and still continue to exist in official records, leaving sanctioned posts blocked and patients deprived of care.RajHealth is changing that. “Developed as an integrated Human Resource Management System for the department of medical, health and family welfare, the portal creates a centralised digital profile for every doctor and health worker. It records qualifications, postings, transfer history, service details, academic credentials, and employment status in one verified platform,” said a senior health department official. This centralised database has made it far easier to detect irregularities that earlier took years of manual audits and correspondence to uncover. Instead of relying on file verification and district-level reporting, authorities can now quickly identify inactive or unauthorizedly absent staff through the portal. Its biggest strength lies in linking verified employee data with administrative processes. Once a doctor’s digital record shows prolonged unauthorized absence, the system can flag the post, helping the department move toward declaring it vacant and filling it with an active doctor. This directly addresses the long-standing problem of “ghost” employees occupying critical positions only on paper. The use of RajHealth in identifying doctors absent for years marks a major shift in governance. It gives the health department a real-time view of manpower across the state, improves accountability, and supports faster decisions on transfers, vacancies, and staffing gaps.
