Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has warned the Sawai Madhopur district collector of personal appearance if an earlier order directing allotment of alternative land to petitioner Azizuddin is not complied with by Oct 7.As govt had acquired the petitioner’s land for developing an airstrip at Sawai Madhopur, he was to get compensation.A single-judge bench of Justice Anuroop Singhi, hearing a contempt petition filed by Azizuddin, on Sept 7 directed that the matter be listed on Oct 7. The court said that if its March 5, 2025, order is not complied with by then, the district collector, Sawai Madhopur, will have to appear personally before the court at 10.30am.The contempt petition alleged non-compliance with the March 5, 2025, order passed in a writ petition pending since 2000. “Under the March 5 order, the petitioner was permitted to apply for allotment of land in lieu of the land used for the airstrip and was required to submit the application within four weeks,” petitioner’s counsel Sunil Samdaria said.“During the hearing, the court had directed the respondents to allot an alternative piece of land of the same price, corresponding to the petitioner’s share in the original land, within 16 weeks of receiving the application,” he added.Samdaria said the petitioner approached the court after the directions were allegedly not complied with.On Aug 21, 2026, High Court recorded that no allotment had been made despite expiry of the stipulated period and observed that the respondents were prima facie guilty of non-compliance. “It subsequently directed respondent No. 2 and the District Collector to remain personally present. The appearance was later exempted on the ground of forthcoming local body elections. On Sept 7, the collector again sought exemption on the same ground, which the court allowed,” he added.The state’s additional advocate general, GS Gill, informed the court that a special appeal had also been filed against the March 5, 2025, order and sought time.High Court fixed Oct 7 for the next hearing, making the collector’s personal appearance conditional on compliance with the earlier order.
