Jaipur: Governor Haribhau Bagde and Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani Monday launched Rajasthan Legislative Assembly’s official emblem and unveiled plaques renaming 13 gates of the Assembly building as part of celebrations marking 75 years of the House.Addressing the gathering, Bagde recalled that Maharaja Ganga Singh established a representative assembly in 1913, laying the foundation for democratic governance in the region even before the the present Assembly was formed.The governor said the newly designed emblem reflects the aspirations and cultural identity of the people of Rajasthan. Referring to elements incorporated in the logo, including the Khejri tree, the Assembly building, camel and Great Indian Bustard (Godawan), he said the emblem symbolises Rajasthan’s resilience, ecological heritage and spirit of coexistence despite harsh geographical conditions.He also stressed the importance of education and practical learning, saying the country progresses through education and the talent of children contributes to national development. Bagde also shared experiences from his tenure as Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly and said democracy becomes stronger when citizens remain conscious of both their rights and duties.Speaker Devnani described the Assembly building as “the sacred centre of hopes and aspirations of crores of citizens”. He added that the emblem embodies constitutional dignity, public welfare and democratic responsibility. He said the Ashoka emblem in the logo represents justice, truth and duty, while the Khejri tree symbolises sacrifice, patience and welfare of the society.Devnani described the Assembly’s motto — “Rashtriya Dharmanishtha Vidhayika” — as the guiding principle of public service and constitutional morality. He said “dharma” stands for truth, justice, balance and public welfare, and the Assembly functions within constitutional boundaries to fulfil the aspirations of the people.The Speaker also announced the renaming of various gates of the Assembly building to reflect democratic values and Rajasthan’s regional cultural heritage. The northern gate used by the governor, Speaker, chief minister and Leader of Opposition has been named “Kartavya Dwar”, while the southern public entrance has been named “Shakti Dwar”. The western gate for MLAs has been named “Sushasan Dwar”, and the eastern gate for officials has been named “Sankalp Dwar”.Several outer gates were also renamed after Rajasthan’s cultural regions, including Braj, Shekhawati, Vagadh, Mewar, Marwar, Hadauti, Merwara and Dhundhar.
