Jaipur: Rajasthan has been placed among the country’s ‘Frontrunner States’ in NITI Aayog’s newly released Investment Readiness Index, securing the 10th rank nationally and eighth among 17 large states. The state emerged as a strong performer on key investment parameters, ranking second among large states in regulatory simplification, third in investment promotion policies, and fifth in resource availability and management. The rankings reflect a series of reforms undertaken by the state govt to reduce the cost of doing business, cut procedural bottlenecks and create a more investor-friendly industrial ecosystem.A key driver was the continuous strengthening of the Raj Nivesh Portal, Rajasthan’s single-window clearance system aimed at providing time-bound approvals to both domestic and global investors. The portal has evolved into a unified digital platform offering 190 services across 18 govt departments. As a result, the average time required for a new power connection has been reduced from 20 days to 10 days, while approvals for tourism projects now take 16 days compared with 22 days earlier. The impact is visible in the portal’s growing usage. During FY26, Raj Nivesh processed 34,704 applications. In the current fiscal year, the platform already received over 30,000 applications by June 30, with more than 17,000 cases disposed of. The overall disposal rate stands at 64%, rising to 68% for the 11 most frequently used regulatory services.A senior Industries Department official attributed the performance to a sustained policy reform agenda pursued over the past two-and-a-half years. During this period, the state rolled out more than 30 sector-specific policies aimed at strengthening industrial competitiveness and attracting investment. These policies cover key sectors such as MSMEs, exports, textiles and apparel, logistics, renewable energy and data centres, helping position Rajasthan as a preferred investment destination.
