Jaipur: Rajasthan recorded revenue receipts of Rs 33,969 crore in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, an increase of 11.54% over the corresponding period last year.Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Thursday directed officials to step up action against tax evasion and revenue leakage through technology-driven enforcement.Chairing a review meeting of revenue-generating departments, Sharma asked officials to take strict action against revenue theft and conduct decoy operations using technology and other innovative methods to detect tax evasion. He also directed departments to study tax administration models adopted by other states and implement best practices where applicable.The chief minister said departments should maintain a steady pace of revenue collection throughout the financial year instead of concentrating efforts towards the end to ensure annual targets are achieved on schedule.Sharma directed officials to ensure effective representation in revenue-related cases pending before courts and enforce strict compliance with GST return filing requirements. Officials were also directed to enforce timely filing of GST returns.Reviewing department-wise performance, the CM asked the excise department to intensify action against the manufacture, transport and sale of illegal liquor and ensure time-bound disposal of seized vehicles used in such activities. He said the department’s Mukhbir Yojana should be implemented effectively to strengthen transparency and improve revenue collection.The registration and stamps department was directed to introduce geo-tagging in the registration process and dispose of registration-related cases within stipulated timelines.Expressing concern over illegal mining, Sharma directed the mines and petroleum department to strengthen monitoring through GPS and CCTV-based systems under the e-ravanna mechanism to curb unauthorised transportation of minerals.The transport department was instructed to intensify action against illegally operating vehicles, fix accountability for enforcement lapses and crack down on unregistered vehicle body-building units.The chief minister also directed the labour department to improve recovery of construction cess through regular monitoring and monthly reviews to strengthen funding for workers’ welfare schemes.He asked Urban Improvement Trusts to prepare plans for new residential schemes with adequate civic infrastructure and directed the revenue department to simplify and expedite the land-use change process through policy reforms.
