Police to hire AI, crime analytics experts on contract

Jaipur: Police Wednesday announced it would hire five young professionals on one-year contracts to provide specialised expertise in crime analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), road safety and drug enforcement. The move marks one of the state’s clearest attempts at bringing lateral expertise into policing, with professionals from specialised fields set to work alongside police officers rather than through the regular recruitment process.Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma has approved the initiative, under which one contractual post each has been created for crime data analyst, monitoring of new criminal laws, road safety, drug control and AI in policing.Additional DG (Crime) Bipin Kumar Pandey said the selected candidates will receive a fixed remuneration of Rs 45,000 a month and will be engaged for one year.According to the officials, the crime data analyst will study crime patterns to identify emerging trends. The professional engaged for monitoring the new criminal laws will assess implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), while the AI specialist will examine ways of integrating AI into policing. Separate professionals will analyse road accident patterns and narcotics trafficking networks to support policy and enforcement. The appointments come as police forces across the country increasingly rely on data analysis and technology to investigate cybercrime, organised crime and financial fraud, where evidence often consists of digital devices, electronic records and large datasets rather than conventional witness accounts alone. The sources said that for a long time Rajasthan police has been trying to keep pace with the new world of emerging tech to battle new challenges and delve deeper into the world of crime data analytics, but in vain.Candidates will be shortlisted through scrutiny of applications followed by a written examination, practical test and interview. Applications must reach the Police Headquarters within 15 days of publication of the advertisement.
