PNG camps to be held in Kota from May 1

Jaipur: In a bid to expand clean cooking fuel access, Rajasthan State Gas Ltd (RSGL) will organise doorstep camps across Kota to provide domestic piped natural gas (DPNG) connections to residents, including those living in multi-storey apartments.Announcing the initiative, RSGL managing director Vinay Patni said the company drew up a schedule to ensure that citizens can avail connections at their doorstep without procedural delays. In the first phase, camps will be held from May 1-8.The move follows a recent review meeting of city gas distribution (CGD) entities chaired by ACS (mines and petroleum) Aparna Arora. She emphasised the need for CGD companies to run awareness campaigns and accelerate the rollout of piped natural gas connections to households, highlighting their role in ensuring safer and cleaner energy access.Patni noted that the Centre directed CGD entities to expand PNG coverage in notified areas and move towards declaring them LPG-free zones. “The doorstep camps will simplify the process and encourage more households to shift to piped gas. Special incentives are also being offered during the camp period,” he said. The camps will operate daily from 10am to 5pm, where residents can complete documentation and get on-the-spot registration for DPNG connections. Officials said this initiative is expected to significantly boost adoption in apartment complexes and nearby colonies. In preparation for the rollout, Patni reviewed arrangements in a virtual meeting and directed officials to ensure seamless execution of the camps and prompt issuance of connections. Senior officials from marketing, CNP, IT and finance departments, along with Kota field teams, participated in the review.
