Jaipur: The new racquet sport of padel is a huge craze among the youth of Jaipur, and now it has also started at the Jaipur Club. A state-of-the-art padel court was inaugurated at the Jaipur Club, which will provide world-class sports facilities to the city’s professional and amateur players. The padel court was inaugurated by Jaipur Club president Ajit Saxena, secretary Himanshu Sehgal, and other members of the management executive.Jaipur Club president Ajit Saxena explained that while padel is a relatively new sport in India, it originated in Mexico nearly 50 years ago. Today, it is played in over 100 countries worldwide and its popularity is steadily growing. He added that padel has also been included as a medal event in the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Aichi, Nagoya, Japan, a testament to its global acceptance.He said that padel is rapidly gaining recognition in Jaipur as well. Considered a hybrid of tennis and squash, the sport has particularly attracted young people, corporate elites, and fitness enthusiasts. Several new padel courts have been developed in the city recently, providing players with a modern training and competitive environment.Jaipur Club secretary Himanshu Sehgal stated that padel is relatively easy to learn and is suitable for all age groups. Typically played in doubles format between four players, the small court, the ball bouncing off glass walls, and fast-paced rallies make for highly exciting matches. He expressed confidence that the introduction of the padel court at the Jaipur Club will give the sport new momentum in the city and encourage more young people to join.
