Kota: Kota city police registered a case of death by negligence under sections of BNS against the hostel owner and caretaker in connection with the death of a 17-year-old NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh, who had died after allegedly falling from stairs on second floor of the hostel building under Vigyan Nagar police station in Kota Sunday.The deceased teen, hailing from Vidisha in MP, came to Kota to prepare for NEET-UG around 10-15 days ago and had secured admission in a coaching institute. He was living in a hostel room in Vigyan Nagar police station area. On report by the deceased boy’s father, the police registered a case of death by negligence under section of BNS against hostel owner and caretaker Sunday night, circle inspector at Vigyan Nagar police station Mukesh Meena said Tuesday. Investigation in the matter is underway, he added. The deceased boy’s father alleged in the report that the hostel staff lied to him Sunday morning, informing him his son had fallen accidentally from stairs on the second floor; meanwhile, on reaching Kota, he came to know that the boy had fallen from the balcony, the police said.Deceased boy’s father stated in the report that he came to Kota with his son on May 27 and enrolled him in a coaching institute to prepare for NEET-UG and rented a room on the hostel’s sixth floor, where he stayed with his son till May 30. The father stated that he had told the caretaker about the absence of safety net under the balcony, but no one paid any attention to this.The teen while coming out of the hostel bathroom Sunday morning, had allegedly slipped, fell on the stairs and rolled down till the ground floor, sustaining critical injuries. He succumbed during treatment at a private hospital.
