Jaipur: Southwest monsoon brought widespread light to moderate rainfall over Rajasthan Tuesday across several districts, with isolated heavy showers in parts of southern and western Rajasthan. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said rainy conditions are likely to remain favourable over the next few days, with Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely in many other parts of the state.Heavy rainfall was reported from Jalore, Pali, Sirohi and Chittorgarh districts during the 24-hour period ending Tuesday morning. Sirantpura in Pali district recorded the state’s highest rainfall of 90 mm, followed by Viratnagar (Jaipur) with 70 mm and Kishangarh (Ajmer) with 60 mm.Among other major rainfall centres, Peeplkhoont (Pratapgarh), Deogarh (Rajsamand), Chhabra (Baran) and Sindari (Barmer) received 50 mm each. Arnod (Pratapgarh), Malsisar (Jhunjhunu), Amet (Rajsamand), Ghatol and Bhoongda (Banswara), Nimbahera (Chittorgarh) and Siwana (Barmer) recorded 40 mm. Around 30 mm of rainfall was reported from several places, including Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Ajmer, Bhim, Chhipabarod, Atru, Mangrol, Galiyakot, Kesarpura, Chomu, Pawta, Shrimadhopur, Dhariyawad, Jhunjhunu, Rajgarh (Sadulpur), Sewada and Balotra. Rainfall ranging between 10 mm and 20 mm was recorded in parts of Dungarpur, Kota, Banswara, Alwar, Dausa, Bundi, Jaipur, Nagaur, Pali, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.Jaipur experienced scattered showers during the day, although humid conditions persisted for most of the time. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 27.8°Celsius., while the cloud cover kept the maximum at 34.3°Celsius.. The Met Office has forecast thunderstorms, gusty winds and light to moderate rain in and around Jaipur over the next 24 hours.In contrast, Sriganganagar remained largely outside the influence of monsoon showers and was the hottest place in Rajasthan with a maximum temperature of 42.8°Celsius.
