Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has eased the approval process for plots in approved colonies that were earlier excluded because they fell under high-tension (HT) line corridors, opening the way for lease deeds and building approvals where the lines have since been removed. The notification, issued Saturday, is aimed at regularising affected properties and clearing pending cases in colonies where power utilities have shifted overhead HT lines and laid underground cables.Officials said several plot owners had been waiting for years despite the safety restriction no longer existing on the ground.“Under this new notification, affected plot owners will get their lease deeds smoothly. Most importantly, approval of such applications will be granted at the zone offices by zonal officials. Applicants will not have to travel to JDA headquarters,” a JDA official said. The move follows a decision taken at the 437th meeting of JDA’s Building Map Committee on Aug 18, 2026. The committee recommended that approvals and lease issuance for such plots be handled at the zone level, provided the HT line has been removed from the site. The latest notification gives effect to that recommendation.Officials said the earlier process had created unnecessary delays because applications were often kept pending merely due to old corridor markings in approved layouts, even after discoms completed line shifting work.“Several plot owners had complained that their lease deeds were not being issued even though the HT lines had already been removed. Because of complex procedures, their cases remained stuck. The new notification allows JDA officials to clear these applications easily,” another official said.JDA has also started processing pending applications under the revised system. The order is expected to benefit plot owners in multiple approved colonies where underground cabling has replaced overhead HT infrastructure, removing the original safety bar on approvals now.A section of JDA officials alleged that the notification was issued at this time to facilitate an industrialist who is constructing a resort in Amer. The construction was under the scanner as the building was coming up below an HT line corridor. Recently, the discom concerned has started shifting the HT wire.
